A fixture at the Saratoga yearling sale, Keswick set a world record for a filly in 1962 when Golden Gorse (by Swaps, out of Auld Alliance) brought an $82,000 final bid. In 1982, Keswick sold Group 3 stakes winner Kanz, a daughter of The Minstrel, out of Treasure Chest for $2.1 million and in 1984 a colt by Roberto, out of Gurkhas Band for $4 million. In addition, Keswick, in partnership with Daniel G. Van Clief Sr.'s Nydrie Stud, bred Northern Dancer's dam Natalma. Knight also purchased a world record weanling for the price of $22,000 in 1961 and resold the colt for a tidy profit the following year at Saratoga. The weanling? Raise A Native.
